The built environment and our changing climate
Industry Academia Partnership Programme

Granted by the Royal Academy of Engineering

The project brings together expert input from Arup and local knowledge from Colombian institutions to enhance Colombian engineering education and research output specifically in the area of sustainable architecture and urban development. The subject matter will be based on the work of Arup staff in the book Two Degrees: The Built Environment and Our Changing Climate, specifically on the opportunities for low carbon and climate resilient cities and infrastructure throughout Colombia. This expertise and rich source material will be integrated into the University’s curriculum in architecture, engineering, and urban planning. Javeriana University will leverage their standing as a leading university in the largest city in Colombia, with ties to sister institutions in Medellin and Cali, to serve as a hub for linkages to other institutions and industry in Colombia by organizing a regional forum of academic, industry, and public sector guests to discuss climate change and design.
OUR STORY
Interfacing nature and the built environment in cities is the most effective way to augment social, economic and environmental assets altogether.
The next generation of architecture not only will reduce the loads on the environments but be a driver of positive incremental impacts in our cities via eco-services. This is the brilliance of the built environments that create and recreate nature.
